On a one-hundred-acre estate in the rolling Connecticut hills the work included planning and design of trails, farm ponds, swimming pool, earthworks, major plantings and native granite walls and terraces. Entry and arrival to the site is redefined by rerouting the access road to the front door, rather than the service area. Ten-inch caliper sugar maples were moved to provide shade and filtered views from the newly-created transitional terraces, used for small and very large gatherings. The unique swimming pool and attendant terraces are graded to look out unimpeded over a “ha-ha” fence towards the farm pond, fields and distant views.
